Wat-er we drinking.
Intro.
For the wat-er we drinking project we were supposed to use chemistry to provide a solution to treating waste what or some other clean water initiative. Our group focused on a filtration system for dirty water. We researched water treatment to find a solution and built a prototype and tested it. We then presented our prototype and our findings to members to the Novato Rotary club.
Our work.
We filled out this document with our research, prototype design and testings. It is based around chemistry's eight practices of science and engineering.
Below is our slide show we presented with the content.
Concepts.
Solute- The minor substance dissolved in the solution.
Solvent- The major substance that dissolves a solute.
Solubility- ability for a given substance, the solute, to dissolve in a solvent
Solution- The homogeneous mixture of two or more substances in a single phase,
Molecular Compounds- Compounds formed by two atoms sharing elections
Ionic Compounds- Compounds formed by a metal that gives up electrons to have a positive charge.
pH Scale- A scale used to specify how acidic or basic a water-based solution is. Acidic solutions have a lower pH, while basic solutions have a higher pH

Reflection.
I enjoyed working on this project. But with every project it had positives and negatives. One negative thing was that i ending up missing the first week of the project so when i got back i was behind with the group and they had to catch me up with the details of the project. One positive thing was that i felt like i stepped up and did my fair share of the work even though i missed a week. Another negative thing was since i missed the first week i wasn't fully up to speed on all of the concepts and research my group did and their thought process with the prototype so it was harder to work on the slides and present. But even with the negatives i liked this project and my group mates and i enjoyed this as a final project.
