Work.
My group, Sean, Nick and I worked about four weeks making a physics of sports video. We chose baseball because Sean plays baseball and the physics seemed interesting. We spent 1 week Choosing a sport, drawing up a storyboard and making script. we Then we spent 1 week filming and recording audio and the last week was editing. I did most of the editing while Sean and nick did most of the voice overs and filming. I finished the video and put it on youtube and I think turned out pretty well.
Concepts.
- Force of Impact - Force of impact is the average amount of force on a object during a collision. You can find this by using (mt=ft). The unit used is Newtons.
- Momentum - Momentum is the tendency of a moving object to keep moving. You can find this by using (p=mv). The unit used is Newton seconds.
- Impulse - Impulse is how long and how forcefully something is "pushed". You can find this by using (j=ft). The unit used is Newton seconds.
- Vertical Velocity - Vertical velocity is the speed and direction of an object traveling vertically. You can find this by using (v vert=gt). The unit is meters/second.
- Horizontal Velocity - Horizontal velocity is the speed and direction of an object traveling horizontally. You can find this by using (v horiz=d/horiz/t). the unit used is meters/second.
- Total Velocity - Total velocity is the overall velocity of an object. To find total velocity you use a^2+b^2 =c^2 where the vertical velocity is A and horizontal velocity is B and the total velocity is C. This is called vector addition. The unit used is meters/second.
Reflection.
I enjoyed the project and I think my teammates and I worked hard and efficiently but we had some areas we needed to work on. We had pretty good work ethic and productivity and also coordination. I felt like I was on task most of the time but there were some slow periods of time were i felt like there wasn't really anything to do and found myself distracted but over all we worked most of the time. Our coordination showed when Sean and nick were out recording voice overs while i was editing the footage and when they where done i could just put them right in the editing software. Some weaknesses I had was staying on track, when i was editing i found it really slow at parts and i would end up warding around the room talking to friends until I found focus again and continued working. In the end I really enjoyed working with this group and we really work well together even though we had some faults.
